We source premium full-grain leather for the Playa upper because it breathes better than synthetic materials and develops a custom patina unique to your foot. The adjustable hook-and-loop strap lets you dial in tension across the instep without pressure points.
The footbed width accommodates standard and slightly wider feet — we recommend going up a half size if you’re between sizes or prefer extra toe room. The leather will relax slightly during the first week of wear as it conforms to your arch. Expect a snug-but-not-tight feel out of the box; this ensures the orthotic support stays positioned correctly under your foot.

Some wearers feel mild arch fatigue initially — this is normal as underused stabilizer muscles activate. Gradually increase wear time over 7–10 days until you can comfortably wear them all day. The leather upper will soften and the footbed will compress slightly, creating a glove-like fit molded to your unique foot shape.

The Playa’s built-in orthotic footbed is designed to replace custom inserts, so we don’t recommend layering additional orthotics on top. The three-zone arch support and deep heel cup provide the same biomechanical correction as most custom orthotics.
If your podiatrist prescribed orthotics for a specific condition, consult with them before switching. Many of our customers with plantar fasciitis, flat feet, and overpronation find the Playa’s integrated support sufficient on its own.
With regular care, the Playa’s leather upper and orthotic footbed will maintain structural integrity for 12–18 months of daily wear. The footbed’s corrective geometry remains effective even as the EVA compresses slightly over time.
The outsole rubber is durable enough for indoor and outdoor use. If you rotate between multiple pairs of supportive footwear, you can extend the lifespan beyond two years. We recommend replacing any orthotic footwear once you notice reduced arch support or uneven sole wear.
The leather upper will tolerate light splashes and brief wet conditions, but the Playa is not designed for prolonged water exposure. Submerging the sandal can damage the adhesive bond between the footbed layers and cause the leather to stiffen.

If you experience sharp pain or numbness, discontinue wear and consult a podiatrist.
